Detailed Points

“A girl in a light blue floral dress and a pair of light blue high heels walked to the beach. The sea breeze blew her long black hair from under her straw hat. Serena (The main character in the book) was sitting on a stone step by the sea looking out at the blue sea and sky. Suddenly, a young girl sitting on a stone step not far away caught Serena's attention. She was wearing a pink round-necked T-shirt and black and white checked shorts and was holding a drink. (Translated from Chinese, Pg. 4-5)”

Figure 1: My character is calm and introverted; thus, my part is dominated by blue. The other little girl is a very sunny, strong girl. She gives people the feeling of being active and alive. Therefore, she is mostly depicted in bright colors, such as red.
Figure 2: The pink diary in the drawing was a gift from that girl, and the green bracelet on my wrist was my gift. This memory is very precious because I used to write down our story in the diary, thus, this notebook is pink.
Figure 3: In the picture, a person is holding a drink that her friend likes the most, which means to represent the expectation that one day in the future, we two would meet again. The sailing boat in the distance represents that as the boat drifted away, it took my friend and my joy with it at the same time.

Mood: Expectancy

The painting is set against the background of an unexpected encounter at the seaside, showing a story of two girls. The relationship between the two changed from being close to talking about everything and giving gifts to each other to being strange because of the separation. Therefore, the scene of two people meeting and preparing to offer drinks and talk is a fantasy and expectation of Serena that they will meet again one day in the future. The origin and meaning of the painting is looking forward to the future and commemorate a friendship that has passed away.
